Preparation

Meditation.  Take Time to Be Still & Listen. Develop a Connection to a Higher Power, to God. There are several types of meditations, if you have a difficult time getting thoughts out of your head, you can use Guided Visualizations, or you can repeat words, as in a Positive Affirmation.

Movement.  Walk. Run. Dance.

Mindfulness. Take mindful snapshots of precious moments in life. Retain those in your memory.  And,  purposely look for moments each day that you can use to capture moments that feel surreal. Use your imagination to take a snapshot, a mental picture of images that bring positive emotions. Consider how these snapshots matter and make a difference in your life. Then, mindfully appreciate your “mental snapshots” at every opportunity you get, especially when you’re feeling down or stressed.

The article suggests using other types of  meditation that draw your focus outside of yourself by giving you a task or activity for example, stimulating or sensory experiences.
